Next steps after committing to Summit

Please Read Before Attending Any Summit Scheduled Event

Starting May 18th, we will be implementing our “return to play” policies and wanted to inform you of the steps we are taking for the safety and the health of all parents, players and coaches. We are sanctioned by USAV and all USAV activities will be required to adhere to the most stringent federal, state or local guidelines for their respective areas. USAV insurance coverage will only be provided for activities that are allowed under such government directives.

Players should take their temperatures prior to arriving at the gym. If you have fever (fever is 100.4°F/38°C or higher), cough, or trouble breathing: Do not go out in public. Players should clean their hands prior to entering and exiting the gym with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. We do recommend that players wear a cloth face covering that covers their nose and mouth when they enter and exit the gym. When using a cloth face covering, make sure: The mouth and nose are fully covered, the covering fits snuggly against the sides of the face so there are no gaps, that you do not have any difficulty breathing while wearing the cloth face covering, the cloth face covering can be tied or otherwise secured to prevent slipping. Avoid touching your face as much as possible. Keep the covering clean. Clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand sanitizer immediately, before putting on, after touching or adjusting, and after removing the cloth face covering. Don’t share it with anyone else unless it’s washed and dried first. You should be the only person handling your covering. We also recommend that all players put their names on their water bottles prior to entering the gym.

Parents please stay outside if possible, as we will be keeping a count of how many participants are in the gym at any given time. No chairs or sitting in the bleachers is allowed. Parents should take their temperatures prior to arriving at the gym. If you have fever (fever is 100.4°F/38°C or higher), cough, or trouble breathing: Do not go out in public. Parents should clean their hands prior to entering and exiting the gym with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. During group sessions and private lessons we recommend that parents wear a cloth face covering that covers their nose and mouth when they are in the gym during group events. Facilities, including VIP, will be following all state and local guidelines and the capacity of the facilities is under the state mandate for 25% capacity. VIP will be implementing a strict cleaning protocol of the gym that will happen prior to and after each practice session. It will include but is not limited to cleaning all front door handles, door handles for the men’s and women’s restroom, bathroom stall handles, toilet levers, faucet handles, sink, vending machine buttons, retrieval door, entry desk and tabletop. As well as any surface that has been touched by a player or coach, i.e. ref stand, AED machine, shelves as well as all volleyballs will be sanitized.

Please note that “return to play” schedules are strictly voluntary. If you feel that it is best for you and your family to not participate, we completely understand as everyone is taking a different approach during this pandemic.

Note from USA Volleyball: Until COVID-19 is either eradicated, a vaccine is developed, or a cure found, there is no way to completely eliminate the risk of infection and as a result USAV strongly encourages all participants to follow these recommendations as safety precautions. The information in the attached link is not intended or implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment, nor does USAV or its forty (40) Regional Volleyball Associations (Region(s)) assume any liability or responsibility for the recommendations provided herein.
